Hi Surfdaddy, The I.O.W. has a number of good quality beaches around it suitable for Surfing, Windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, swimming etc. For all ages and types.
It also has miles of public bridleways and wakways if thats your thing.

As for camping there are a number of sites around the Island for you to try form coastal locations to rural settings. Ferry fares are or can be a bit steep, try looking for bargain or special offers from wightlink or red funnel ferries.

try a search on isle of wight camping holidays or iow tourism and leisure.
Good sites in Sandown, Shanklin, Bembridge and west wight area if you want surf..

Try it you may even like it. Cheers for now buddy, Steve W..

Dont take to mutch to bembridge beach because getting up the hill back to the site is a killer. Especially carrying a full kit for night fishing . On the plus side the IOW is a fantastic place to visit great for the kids to.T:T:T:

Its been a couple of years, we tend to avoid the towns in the IOW for the same reason your skipping devon this year, there is a fantastic campsite in a place called Brigstone right at the bottom of the island, there are small shops and pubs within walking distance and your right on the beach, also right near blackgang chine plus other good days out, fossils the lot. Sorry should have looked up the number but im writing on my phone and it gets complicated.

The Orchards @ Newbridge is a nice site - got an indoor & outdoor pool, new shower block & a takeaway - no bar though. Nice countryside all around it.

Also Grange Farm at Brighstone is good, bit more basic but right next to the sea - good kitesurfing down the road at Brook & surfing a bit further on at Compton.
