I had a Cannons Forge bed delivered to Northern Ireland a few weeks ago. I got Country Wide Feight to pick it up from Dave and deliver to my home address (it would have been cheaper to deiver it to the depot in Mallusk but I went the whole hog). It wasnt exactly cheap at just over £100 (£75 to the depot). I wasnt exactly impressed with the service though, it arrived while I was at work with a 67 year old driver and no means of getting it off the truck. So my father in law with his 2 hip replacements and this 67 year old driver had to struggle to get a 70 kg plus pallet off the truck. Go Figure. Wouldnt recommend CountryWide.
my bed is waiting for me in daves. i'm in cork by the way. i got a quote of €130 from k&L deliveries. i will be ringing around on monday to see if i can better that. will let ye know what i find out.
I found TNT also very good for heavy goods deliveries between UK and IRL. Might be worth a shot.

I priced interlink to collect one from Dave and bring to Letterkenny.
100 euros, I didn't think that was too bad:)

He. You know, they are DPD now :) ... They could have gotten more expensive, but sure also worth a try.

So,
I should have delivery of the bed on Thursday. I've arranged it through K&L as it turns out a mate has an account with them and gets a good rate. All others I contacted wanted accounts established or asked silly prices. Country wide (whom Dave recommended) have never replied to my emails or phone calls, so I figure they dont want the business.
I'll let ye know what happens.
Cheers for all the replies and offers of help with this... very much appreciated.

i will have my bed this week too, i went with mcd transport in cork €110 plus vat but as i'm not registered for vat he said he would work something out for me. countrywide freight (not sure if its the same guys dave recommended as there are 2 companies going by similar names) told me they do not collect there. k&l were good value too, but i went with mcd to do my bit for the local economy.
Hey Barry, spoke to Dave yesterday, your bed is loaded on a truck and making it's way across to ya. Pity we didnt know we were purchasing at the same time, could've saveed on freight!
yep i think he had a bit of a panic as he though my bed went with the wrong courier, turned out k&l your guys and mcd my guys use the same company in the uk. looking forward to getting the bed, hope you get yours soon.
Yeah, bit of a mix up happening there..still, there's a bed and seat bolted into the rear of my van now. Have to say, it's the business. Allows storage underneath and fits with no hassle or modding at all. Spot on!
Now, where'll I stay tonight hmmm,T:
