View Full Version : Calling all area reps, veterans and noobies.
As some of you know i have taken the reigns from Flips in Taunton and am calling on you to to tell me what you want from the area/meets.
So Area reps, what works and don't work in your area to get the most out of it and maximum turn out at the meets????
Veterans and noobies, what what you like to see going on near you and what do you want out of us area reps??? Or tell me what goes on near you that you like/dislike??
If you don't want to put it on the public forum then why not drop me a PM. Wanna hear anything that might help.
Many thanks in advance

Free beer!!! :cheers I: I: I:
Our meet is relatively new and building, basis of it I believe is simply a good venue, we have a pub, very accessible to the motorway, great size car park that allows us to fan 15+ vans out in one line and the pub does not mind us doing so, also a good beer garden where we kick off just with chatting for the first hour, not too van-centric, then we can mooch round the vans until kicking out time.
Once we move over to chatting around the vans the group splinters so I think starting off away from the vans untileveryone arrives gives a more friendly atmosphere, didnt plan it that way just happened.
Also a good core bunch who are there rain or shine helps. We have started to have small cruises to out neighbours in Dorsets meet on a monthly basis and have been discussing a joint interim meet halfway between.
Area cruises to the big meets are good too T:
Any other ideas I'll pass on T:
Thanks alot for that guys. Free beer would be great but I dont think its gonna happen lol.
Was planning on having a few sunday meets with the family and kids etc. Maybe a few joint meets with bristol and devon.
Keep them ideas coming chaps.
Bristol volksfest is really good today. Just gotta find chris (conspiracy) now.
Did someone say something :*

Don't forget the cortina's I:
i used to be the cumbria regional rep and i found having a meet on a sunday works better than a meet mid week , i know myself if there were a meet at say 7pm i dont normally even get home until a touch after 6 , so then getting some food ect would leave things a little tight to attend on time , might be something to think about for the folks who live on the outer skirts of your regional area T: ..

When I took over i set the meet for the same day each month for me second Tuesday eve of the month. Then everyone knows when it will be and can book it in there diary's (but i think coz I've done this i don't get much chit chat on the meets thread.
Just done my first overnighter with Sunday bbq which went really A:
Good luck buddy, it can be frustrating at times but build it and they will come :ILU::ILU:
Been doing the North West regional co-ordinators job for about 9 months now.
Was a little slow to start with as I started in Winter, however that is when I think the meets are of most benefit and there are no shows happening. During Summer most people meet up at regional or national shows.
I tried asking members what they wanted from the meets and got little responce, most want you to take the reigns.
I decided to hold the meets on 1st Sunday of the month (in most cases, unless it clashed with a local show) and as the North West is such a big area, decided to move the meets around the area. A different location each month. This seems to be working well, with some interesting meets happening and very good feedback from the members.
Don't wory if you don't get any feedback form the members, it seems to be quite common with other co-ordinators I have spoken with. It sometimes gets me down when I din't get replies from people, but no point in worrying about it. It might be slow getting started, but stick with it. One thing to remember, no matter how hard you try, you can't make people come to meets if they don't want to.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

allso maybe run the sunday all through the year as an inbetweener as allot cant make the monday nights we get some good turn outs 10 vans upto 20 we got a good bunch.
cheers lee and good luck :ILU::ILU::cool:
Thanks for all your comments Guy's, much appreciated A:A:
So looks like I'll begin the meet with planning a Sunday meet half way through the month for the rest of the summer then see where it goes T:
Any idea's from the members ????
A few sunday meets will be good, but dont forget its show season so they might clash.
A good reason to have a chat first then eh ;)
Have you got any good idea's Scott apart from free beer I:
Excellent idea, I'll get on to it :D
When I took over from luke we met monday evenings during the summer and sundays during the winter, I have stuck with the sunday lunch meet and it seems to be working. We usually cruise to shows together and pre book a forum area for camping or parking.
The chat section works well as local members can help each other out with skills or products .
As John has already said we support the Hampshire meet and they support us . Works well and with Johns idea of a mid meet (or was it mine, cant remember) we will have 3 meets a month.
Ours is the first sunday, Hampshire the first thursday evening, and the mid meet will probably be a weekend thing too.
I tend to run a poll for any changes and a printed callender of events helps new folks see whats happening.
Good luckT:
Excellent idea, I'll get on to it :D
Im on the case Hic LOL:
