What do you do at these meets mate ? I have never been to one so it's a genuine query.

I dunno what the meets are like over here, but the ones Gazhow used to arrange, we would go the beach, hit the front at fleetwood. We went Jodrell Bank. Generally meet up have a chat, some food and a brew, if we were at the beach some frisbee, kiting and even kayaking has been known.
Longboards come out to play and just have a bit of a socialise.

Don't do it mate not the ice skating anyway it seems to be a predatory arena for young lads picking up loose girls and parking is a joke in the city centre. :D The curries are the best in the country though.

Which is also next to a travel lodge for anyone who wants to get slaughtered and stay overnight. There is also a fun-fair that comes every year which is literally across the road from the hotel in Victoria park. As you can tell I am quite proud of the area around me. :D
'board paul's' suggestions sound fun to me, I'd be up for the childish stuff,T: a bit o kiting, frisbee type stuff, longboards whatever, but thats just because I've grown old, but not up! maybe even on't 'stray' in disco country.
doncaster dome seems to do every thing ice skateing and things but xcape seems easy.
ill drive anywere you all decide if pos disco can we keep it to sun 4 pm if thats ok with every one.

Hey, is anyone up for arranging something for bonfire night. maybe someone knows someone with some land or maybe a pub with a big carpark.
Depending on location/land owner we could have people cooking outside the vans. Id know id get a big pan of hotdogs on that anyone would be welcome to. Maybe someone fetches a big pan of chilli?
I know bonfires would be ruled out but clean wood contained fire pits maybe for the warmth and the effect maybe?
And if safe to do so, some fireworks.
Just an idea.
bonfire night for me is down lincolin oak hill lesure camp site the lincs caravan club center put on a full display and food x fire lol i forgot wouldnt be bonfire night without one ;
all for a tenner a night with leccy

ive offerd to help out for a few month, as you know im always on on a night talkin c r ap.
so i thought some of you may want a meet or get somthing going off.
i was going down lincolin to meet up with a good friend of mine lincolin rep sharpy 1,this weekend for a paintball game but unfortunately we were struggling with numbers,so big light bulb lit up in my head and hay pressto,shall we meet up with the lincolinshire lads.
we can have a full day paintballing and have the full site to ourselves if we get 20+ guys
between ourselves.
its £35 for the full day and includes dinner,the date for this is 21st nov so this gives plenty of time to book this day on the calinder .

as for this month shall we meet up at xcape sun 31st oct 4 o clock as seems to suit most people,we can have a chat for a hour then have a chines at the flameing dragon £6 for as much as you can eat, great its never failed us yet at previous meets, its top tackle.
ive met up with loads of you guys over the years ,gazhow and ginger guy seem to try and put a lot on so ill try my best to do the same , so gaz and guy this is a invite to you all your meets and friends are great and all welcome on any of ours.
i can arange a camp up at oakhill lesuire lincolin sat night if any one wants to make a weekend of it.
camping at masson will be on again in feb great venue disco will be sorting that out when he back with us.

I dont mind going to Old post office and meeting up but I could aso meet you at darfield garage at the end of the buy pass and you and rave dave could follow me to cas through great houghton and ackworth,
around this time last year we had a blizzard and i bottled going to the meet, brendan 999 went and i think it took him about 2 and 1/2 hours to get home, hope its not like this on sunday :eek:

How you been finding the van in snow? Mines just pi..ed it to work. Only late thanks to people crawling on stox bypass for no reason. If we get any more down i might put steels on front, got a pair with nearly new tyres.

Going to start digging my van out tomorrow for sundays meet, ........ive been using the car since last week so the vans been sitting on the drive.
The snow as drifted nearly up to the swage line on drivers side and it looks like its fitted with a high top and you cant tell what type of van it is from the front, Im also gonna have to shift some snow off my street or its gonna rip my front bumper off :eek:
Whats it like where you are? .........while ive been at work it seems that wakey and leeds have hardly had any.

Yeah I know that once I get out of the estate and down the Hemsworth bypass that Ash the snow plough driver will have cleared all the roads around Ponty & Cas M:
hi all ill be in layby 315 as planned might be in red polo though as van got pooly at buxton last night waxed up diesel filter, just put a new one on but diesel s not coming through as pumps empty and not pullin, ill pressure bleed wi compressor in morn and hopefully get it runnin

you know im up for it anytime. Im quite happy to meet in any weather. Av ya ever thought about somewhere like meadowhall (obv not before xmas) when its hammerin it darn? Indoor carpark for a natter then one of restaurants for some nosh. Or any other free multi storey. Just a thought.
I agree tho Dave. Theres quite a few new members from yorkshire. Need to get em on board. The southerners have their own little groups n clubs. We need summat for al the Dub Tykes up ere.
dunt matter nick north or south ive friends all over uk now you have one you will be the same at the end of the day we love vw and there are 10 billion people out there with them,were ever you park up m8 if theirs a v dub you have a friend bud.
yorkshire is bigger than we think thats why xcape was the meetin place as easy for every one , yes on our door step would be nice nick but we do that at the post office every month with yorks vw club 2nd wed nt and ash now with the west yorks meeting first wed of month, so im thinkin witch takes ages ill have a answer nick in a min lol am i gettin to old

Anywhere with an in door carpark was all i was sayin, keep us outa rain through winter. Might encourage a few more to get involved. Xscapes fine wi me, Big carpark and plenty of places to eat. Just like other week, only a small turn out cos it wa freezin. Ill av to point all the new members from yorkshire towards this thread. They might not even know about it. When i first got the van i was unsure wether to get involved cos i dint know anyone. Came to that un at c ock and crown and felt a reyt t-it just stood there. But you get talkin n now i know you, Ash, that Allun wi purple T4, Brendan. Its funny how fast you get to know everyonejust from going a couple of times.
Has there ever been an overnight meet? I know theres all the Shows in the summer but theres loads of campsites in yorkshire where we could do an overnighter. All get round a fire an get bladdered.
Am just throwin ideas about. Id love the scene to get big round here. Went to newquay in the summer and every van waves. Up here i think people can be a bit unsure.

right got a plan cigar in gob<ateam>, if we meet at top of blueebank hill at vis center thats the a170 every one i hope thinksthat may be thats central to yorkshire, we then can cruse down to pickering then take a169 to whitby just out of pickering there is the fox and rabit ph we can book a meal big car park so loads of chatin and lookin at vans again at whiby we can stop off at co op r/about and have ten looking at what ever takes your fancy,
then get on the a171 down to scarbrough again stop off for ten and have a laff then back on a170 back to were we started from at vis center hows this cruse sound guys march/april hopfully disco will be back with us.

Sounds good dave - but it seems a long way off! could i suggest a sun eve meet, probably at xscape in january? theres nowt to do in jan, and whilst its cold, I dont feel a need to stand outside, shivering my t**s off, looking at peoples vans in the dark. ive seen most of them, and if i want to look at nice vans in the winter, i'll buy a magazine!! Its the people that make a meet, and we can see them inside where its warm and comfy!! All of the many vw clubs ive been in havnt stopped just cos its too cold/dark/wet - weve just moved inside. Often people havnt even come in vdubs - who wants to bring convertables/classics/cherished vans out in snow and ice! we often joked that winter meets should be renamed "the company car club meet". It doesnt matter, its the people!! Rant over - Merry Christmas *<:-)> I'll maybe see you in jan, if anyones interested?

as far as I can remember, the guys are all camping at a pub just north of masham on the 21st-23rd jan, maybe some of the t4um guys are already booked in, but if anyone who isnt staying over, fancied a pootle along, I'd join in. (prob would'v camped, but no hook-up in bus yet) and with these temps, mite be a bit chilli for a wimp like me...T:

aye, I've no doubt a stopover at a pub in winter with good people n log fires, ale, food etc, will be great, but a bus with no eber or hook-up in -degrees rave, nah, I'm not big enuf for that..... on your other suggestion tho, "of a meet up at sutton bank in spring" if anyone was up for it, I'd be quite happy to sort a treasure hunt style thingy on a route round that area, just to make the convoy to lunch a bit more difficult. .I:

Whats up with you yorkshire dubbers,yer moan when theres no meets,Ash keeps putting something on and then hardly anyone turns up.
It was lovely weather aswell or was that the problem did everyone go to the coast instead , or beer gardens.

Lots of us are busy or working, and cant make daytime meets. Evening meets would suit a lot better. Also saturday nights tend to be booked up weeks, if not months in advance.
In 20yrs of dubbin, sunday night meets always get the best turnout!!:cheers
