This is a useful website to look up the MOT history of your vehicle. Very handy if you wanna know the previous results of your van's MOT. You do need MOT test number or vehicle's V5 to gain access but deffo worth a look.

Thanks what a great tool. However I'm now really miffed as just bought a 96 2.4D Camper on Thursday, advertised with 98K only, to now find it has done over 205k!!! Not a happy chap. Contacted seller to see about throwing it back at him. Thank you so much for the post, just wish I'd known about it sooner.

It's just a shame there are so many dishonest people around. Feel a bit sorry for the guy I bought it off as he is gutted and very apologetic as he had no idea either, it's def the guy before him that either swapped out the speedo and never said or intentionally clocked it. Waiting to hear back from the seller as I'm demanding he either collects the vehicle and gives me a full refund or he can refund me the difference as to what I feel the vehicle is worth with over an extra 100k on the clock. Fingers crossed. :(
Hi all,
I'm really pleased I saw this thread...
In the absence of BT Fleet being forthcoming with the service history of my 01 plate ex-AA van, it gives me piece of mind that it really has only done 68,000 miles in it's life...
Cheers again
Carl.
I have just got my van of a private trader who got it as a part ex, he didnt know much about the van but it was in good shape and pretty cheap (he had no idea they could be changed to anything other then a standard van!) so i took the risk!!!! just been on the VOSA website expecting bad news of some kind but no, its passed every MOT apart from when a number plate light was out!T:
Feel alot better now!
Great tool. I just checked my two motors but the history only goes back a few years i.e. when the database started being computerised. Still it all checks up ok for me from then :)
Well not good news on my part. I have just checked and my nice new (well not so new now) t5 that is meant to have done 53,00 has actually done 131,000 plus. It also seems now that the clock shave been fiddled, and it has had a new engine fitted by VW Birmingham only a month ago. Vehicle was bought from a trader only two weeks ago, and the service book has been fiddled too, on really close inspection it looks like it has been made up, even fake main dearly stamps. I have called dealers up to look for records and no records on file for my reg, and the services are not genuine. They were also kind enough to look on a back up system and the chassis and reg match and the vehicle has been serviced, just done so many more miles than stated.
Vehicle was owned by Arval Leasing, who have confirmed a new engine was fitted but can't get exact mileage of new engine until monday as technical team are closed. VW Birmingham have no record of clock changing only engine.
The worst bit is, I have just rang back the trader which was A1 Commercials in Chatham, and the business has been sold the day after I bought the vehicle (all too convenient), and is now under new management. This was kindlt told me be my one of the otehr sales guys that helped me prior to my purchase, . I have tried to call the chap on his mobile no answer. What do I do I bought from a dealer as I thought it would be safer, I have spend £6000 on a vehicle that has just about been round the world twice. I have saved for so long and this was going to be my longterm keeper that was gonna end up as a camper.
PLease folks any help would be amazing!
Please please, do no by any vehicle for A1 Commercials which are no Select Commercials in Chatham Kent!!!!

go back round to the garage and see if you get anywhere, maybe the guy on the phones telling porkies, try trading standards
but please before you get youself in trouble remove the garage name from your post as you are not allowed to name and shame
Is the garage trading under the same name?... you purchased the vehicle from the company, not the owner. As such the company is liable for the issues, no mattter who owns it... They have misrepresented the vehicle so you have no actually received the vehicle to the spec (mileage etc) that you contracted on. They may say they did not know, but that's irrelevant, it was misrepresented to you. Up to them to sort out once they take it back and give you aq full refund.
My first port of call would be to call the garage and explain to them that an actual criminal offence has taken place prior to your ownership and unless suitable redress happens, you have been subject to fraud and misrepresentation and feel compelled to report the matter to the police and VOSA for investigation...
This happened to me some years ago with a Range Rover from a trader in Warrington... the previous dealer owner could not be contacted for some reason. Using the above tactics I got a call 1 day later expressing sorrow at the situation and 2 days later the van was collected whilst they dropped of an envelope full of cash as a full refund...
Thats interesting, although by the looks of my vans old MOT's it has needed front suspension work every year for play in bushes or similar. Is this a weak point on T4's or do I have a dodgy one?
