Thought I would do a 'How to' on changing your stock green bulbs (yuk!) to cool blue ones!!!
:cool::ILU::cool:

First you will need;
A long crosshead screwdriver
A stumpy crosshead screwdriver
T10 Stardive screwdriver
3 x Blue 509T T5 Twist lock LED bulbs

I got my LED's from these guys £9.99 for 10 of them

Right
First you need to remove the steering wheel column cowling

You do this by using your long crosshead screwdriver and remove the screws found underneth the column

Next you need to remove the speedo surround.
You do this by using your stubby crosshead screwdriver to remove the two screws located up and under the surround

You can then remove the surround

You will now see two screws either side of the speedo cluster
Remove these.

As you gentley remove the speedo cluster, you will find a lead pluged into the back of the cluster, Just unplug it.

Turning it over you will see three of these across the top of the cluster

Twist them anticlock wise to remove them.

Get your new 509T T5 Twister Blue LED's

Right now pay attention 007 and save yourself making a mistake!

When your put you new bulbs in, they only work one way round as LED's have a -/+ side.
Fit your new bulbs and then test them before you fit the cluster back in!!!!!!
But first;-

You will now need to remove the green plastic strip inside the cluster, otherwise all your hard work has been for nothing!
You do this by taking your T10 Stardrive screwdriver and removing the two screws at the top, front of the cluster.

You can then unclip it and open the cluster to remove the green strip.

Remove it.
Replace the two T10 screws

Now comes testing time.
Plug the cluster back in but dont replace it back into the dash.
You need to be able to tip the cluster back (especially in day light) to see if the LED's are in the correct way.
With luck you will have placed them all in the right way round first time and can see three blue lights!:ILU:

If not, dont worry, simply unplug the cluster (dont remove the LED's while the cluster is still plugged in as you might blow them!) Take the lamp which is not working out, turn it around and replace.
Plug the cluster back in and bingo three working LED's:cool:

Replace the cluster and two screws either side
Replace the speedo surround and two screws
Replace the steering column

And your dials should know look like this!!!!

A:T::ILU::D:cool:

This picture does not show them at thier best as it was taken during the day.
I will post another one at night, just as soon as it gets dark!!!

Enjoy!

Re: How to change your speedo bulbs

is there a way to change pre 1996 dash bulbs?
Yes, you can change any bulb anywhere, you just need to make sure you have the right replacement bulb and possibly someone (if you cant do it yourself) to solder them in for you, if they need to be soldered in.
If they are twist ones or 'wedge' ones, you can just push them in
Im sure your van can't be very different to this guide as all cars/vans are very similar this way :)
