Hello, I`m a new member, just having bought a 2008 Leisuredrive converted Transporter T26 84 TDI SWB.
With regard to which engine oil to use, could someone advise me as to how to determine whether my van has a DPF.
Is a good oil such as Castrol Magnetec not suitable?
Many thanks,
Les.
mines a 2007 2.5 with dpf
its got a sticker at top of windscreen above driver saying so
i know you might of had a screen replacement or the sticker removed
but i would look there first buddy
Only 2.5 have dpf not fitted to any 1.9 t5s oil type n grade should be listed in service book dependant on fixed service or milage service if not its on a sticker under drivers side lower dash near pedals along with ya paint code n other stuff
Thanks for your comments. Just had a look under the van at the exhaust pipe. There`s the big silencer half way back and another bomb shaped expansion in the pipe just behind the engine ---- so am I right in thinking that`s the Diesel Particulate Filter?
Most diesels have had cats for more than 10 years now, and most now have DPF's and cats fitted. The only important difference between petrol and diesel cats, is the petrol cat is tested at the MOT test. Diesels only have to pass a smoke test.
It`s also the case that my van does not have a PDF warning light when you switch on. So does this confirm that no DPF is present??
