Has anyone taken their van over to Morocco from Spain? We're in Spain this December & contemplating 4 or 5 days in Morocco.

We have been across. We went from Tarifa to Tangier by fast ferry less border crossings. The best place to buy your tickets are from the small booths inside the ferry terminal. Dont buy from the ticket stalls on the road to the port. You will also need to complete a customs importation form D16TER , this can be done online print it out and take it with you for customs to stamp on the boat. Make sure your insurance covers you for Morocco, if not buy it at the port in Morocco, make sure all your documentation is in order because you will be asked for it. Dont speed as its a on the spot fine, i speak from experience. Police have mobile speed cameras in all the towns. We went to Marrakesh, Fez, Rabat, Essaouire and also visited where they filmed Gladiator.
We drove a few of the gorges and had an amazing time. You will not regret doing this trip. Anything you need to know feel free to ask.

Why would you ever want to go anywhere?

Well there is a hell of a lot SAFER and nicer places to go without putting your self and family at risk.. Morocco currently has the same terrorist threat of attack as libya ? So yes why would you want to go and put your family at risk ? apart from the terrorist risk you vehicle would be become a higher target for theft and abuse with UK plates, So yes go there but don't cry for help when it turns to Poo !

Happy Holidays have a nice time !

Terrorism

There is a high threat from terrorism in Morocco.

Attacks could be indiscriminate and could target foreigners. In April 2011, 17 people were killed and 25 injured in a large explosion in Marrakech at the Argana Restaurant in Djema el-Fna Square.

Protective security measures, including security personnel, may be visible in certain areas including hotels and sites popular with tourists.

The Moroccan authorities have warned of an increased threat linked to the growing number of Moroccans sympathetic or belonging to Daesh and other extremist groups, and regularly report the disruption of terrorist cells, some of which intended to carry out attacks in Morocco.

There is considered to be a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals, from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria. You should be vigilant at this time.

Find out more about the global threat from terrorism, how to minimise your risk and what to do in the event of a terrorist attack.

Wow - you do enjoy your cotton wool don't you

Perhaps you also avoid London, Birmingham, Paris and Brussels to name but a few places that have suffered at the hands of terrorists over the years?
