T4 Post Icon Learner Drivers on Motorways

The government is thinking of allowing learner drivers onto motorways http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38464776

Surely, it would be better to let them pass their test and then have some compulsory lessons on the motorways, or they will have to change all those signs that say no Learner Drivers, no mopeds etc

I can't think of a better place to learn to undertake at speed and change lane when it's not safe than by following the example of the in a hurry masses

Can't see what's wrong, let them loose on the m62 between Huddersfield and Leeds in the morning rush hour ,it's slower than going on a b road

" it's only the speed that matters"

My dad being a hgv1 driver tought me to drive on normal roads and the three lane A2 in north Kent. He made me aware of lorries approaching another so I could be ready to let them out and always knew what was around me. Personally learner drivers need to go on motorways to teach them the basics. Really need to stop people sitting in the overtaking lanes where they think they are "safe"!!

People come from slip roads to join motorways and expect to be let on straightaway.

It's a give way situation and it's not always possible to let someone on straightaway in a safe manner.

Go to the end of the dashed line if needs be and wait or match your speed to the traffic already on the motorway.

Don't give me a dirty look just because I don't brake heavily or change lanes with cars overtaking me.

Sigh!

That's right. Go onto the hard shoulder and use it until it is safe to move into the inside lane. We shouldn't be having this conversation really as should be common knowledge!!

Learners on the motorway?
I always thought half the people on there were still learning

Saying nothing doesn't mean I have no opinion.
It may mean I don't think you are ready to hear it.
