Default Seat Base Question

I think I know the answer to this one, but would be good to get it confirmed before I "pull the trigger" just in case

Will a Mercedes Sprinter (2000-2006 range) Drivers Seat Base fit in a 2003 LT Passenger Seat position?

I understand I will have to cut off the handbrake support bracket, but anything apart from that?

No one know?

I have picked up a nice pair of Ford Galaxy seats with armrests and (I think!?) built-in swivels, but need another base before I can fit them

I put another LT35 drivers base in the passenger side with galaxy seats, swivels round no problem. Drivers one i have to open the door slightly to get it to swivel round. Mine is a 2006 but wouldnt have thought there will be any difference.

Yes, the driver side base from a Sprinter of the same year will fit, in the van, and with the Galaxy seats. That's what I've done in mine.

I've not even bothered to cut off the handbrake bracket, as the seat is a bit wider than the base I don't really notice it. I have to open the doors to swivel them but that's only until I mod the swivels to spin 360 degrees. The other mod I did was to extend the fixing holes in the runners, and I used larger washers to fix them to the bases. You'll also need to find somewhere solid to bolt the seatbelt to as it's on the seats on the LT, but on the pillar in the Galaxy. I used existing holes in the bases with suitable bolts.

Oh and you will have a bit of bare floor showing, as the mat is cut fo the double base. Seems obvious but it's only on refitting the mat that I noticed!

Cheers

Interesting point about the handbrake bracket. I will offer up the seat to the base and see what it looks like. Hopefully will have the base 'won' tomorrow

I don't understand the point about the seatbelts unless your LT is different to mine.
My cab belts are secured on the B Pillar as typical. You had seat mounted belts?

I have read a few comments on the forum here and elsewhere about the Galaxy swivel stops. It looks a simple mod to allow the seat to swivel inwards, which would be much more useful, BUT ... I have also read that the lug that you need to remove is part of a strengthening part of the seatbelt buckle and removing it compromises that. Not looked at this yet, but I will be checking this out carefully before I remove anything

I would be looking to get a new mat anyway (probably from MegaVanMats - their cab mats are excellent quality and great value).
I will be giving the seats a deep clean with my AutoSmart Vortex before fitting which should bring them up nicely (the seats are not worn at all, just a bit grubby from being stored in a shed for years after Galaxy sold via Scrappage Scheme).

Yes the bottom of the belt is fitted to the seat, or was to mine at least, as per this picture:

Ah ha! I looked at the top mounting on the pillar. Didn't notice the position of the bottom mounting
Do you think you will have any problems with the belts getting caught up on the seat back if the seats swiveled to the inside?

No I can't see them being an issue.

I did have to re drill the rear mounting holes on mine when I fitted a drivers base to the passenger side.

Well, I 'won' a sprinter base on eBay, so when I get that and get the old seats off ready for the Galaxy swivel ones, better make sure I have my drill charged up
