Slam vents let in water

While lining the van I noticed that the very bottom of the cill behind rear wheel has water in it. I presume this has come from the slam vent.

So should I expect to find water in there waiting to rot the van or should there be a drain hole? Or perhaps a breathable membrane over the vent as there seems to be some fabric or tape like material there?

It is the pressure relief opening that lets you shut the doors. On a T5 / T6 they are located on the cill behind the rear wear arch and bumper trim.

They have a flexible flap over them that should stop the ingress of water.

There isn't one on my T6 Kombi and if there were the leak was on the other side.

Anyhow the dealer fixed it and it was a broken slam vent flap.
