T4 Post Icon Screw fixing inside t4 camper?

Hi to all I am new here and new to vw experience.
I have a t4 1.9D converted to a camper with rock n roll bed/seating and cooker n basin set in cabinets. Standard arrangement I think.
I intend to install various items inside the camper and wondered about screwing to the already carpet lined interior, I see from other info that this can be done but what to watch out for? How long do the screws need to be? Screw fixing to the ceiling? Please advise .
It's a 1995 model like something from Back to the Future! So it has several minor faults, temp gauge, fuel gauge not working,(I've seen the quick fix info on re-soldering the circuit board).
Also I can't open the tailgate, inserting the key, it just keeps turning having no effect, due to the bed installation it's difficult to get in and remove the panel exposing the inner workings of the tailgate so I have to leave that to someone more experienced and flexible.
Having 147k on the clock and little service history it's going to garage on Monday for a full service and cam belt change, the mechanics at my garage have old t4's themselves and love them so I feel comfortable with them and trust them.
Here's hoping you can help a novice out, thanks . Simon.

Default Re: Screw fixing inside t4 camper?

Hello Simon,

The key doesn't really open the tailgate it just rotates a plastic "spud" that lines up with the handle above the number plate to complete the mechanism.

So you won't feel any resistance turning the key.

To lock the you turn the key and the handle goes floppy with no resistance to movement. Similar to sliding door when it is locked; the handle moves bit doesn't open the door.
