You'll need a rail of somekind to attach it to though.

So a J rail, Reimo Multi rail, or a couple of other rails around too. VW also have a rail that bolts to the roof rack holes.

i've just bought one of those sun awnings from funkyleisure along with their T5 awning rail and some sections of figure-of-8 channel...

the whole shooting match (including a pack of clingons) was 124.00 and turned up 24hrs after ordering.

the awning rail was only 35.00 and screws straight down using the 4-bolts already located in the cutter... takes about 1 minute to fit!

haven't tried the awning yet (i went for red btw), but will have a play with that later.

Cheers guys
Do you know if the awning can be rolled up and tied off to drive around or do you need to un-hook it all?
Whats the quality like? I was thinkin go of buying a stand alone canopy from somewhere like go outdoors and parking the van up along side it

If you are in Newport, S Wales, then give Ed-j a shout as I think he does the Kyham sun canopy and an alloy rail for about 80. We have the Kyham and it will slot into the channel on the rail and set up or pack down in less than 5 mins.

I picked up the "Outlaw" from www.campershop.co.uk its a drive away awning, really good gives you loads more space when camping and what is good about the Outlaw is that it runs parallel to the van rather than extending outwards away from the van too far. I bought the funky leisure awning rail and fig 8 channeling from www.funkyleisure.co.uk

Is the Khyam sun canopy OK, was thinking of getting one, got a VW rail on order but just need shelter from sun and showers and dont want driveaway as might as well just camp !

I am really happy with ours. It comes in a really nice small pack, can be unrolled, slotted into the awning rail in seconds and the poles up in minutes. I think its brilliant value for 50 quid. here's a link but if it doesn't work, google Kyham website.
