I was getting the famous moo from under the dash when changing gear and turning the ignition off so I bought a new moo valve as it's affectionately known (N75 valve to Mr VW parts man). I changed it the dealer car park in 5 minutes and the moo has gone and I swear it drives better.

I always wondered what that noise was about 10-15 seconds after turning ignition off. I don't get it changing gear though, so I'll hang on to my ÂŁ50 for now until that happens. I:

What is it for anyway, and does the mooing have any negative effect at all ??

I have the same problem.... Moooooing
The nice man at the VW dealership said they stopped changing The N75 valve when they make a noise due to it being the pipes that become loose on the fittings, the valve is usually fine.
Unfortunately the two pipes I was quoted cost more than a new N75 valve.

It only looks like normal vacuum pipe so I have no idea why one of them is over 40 quid :*

He said that fitting a new valve will sort the problem temporarily due to the new valve being a better fit in the pipes, but they will work lose again if the pipes are not replaced.

I am going to have a good look at fixing mine before forking out hard earned cash T:
