Iv seen loads advertised as TDI but read somewhere on here that only the 2.5s were TDI's. Whats the score then? Also whats the performace difference like between a 88bhp 2.5tdi and a 102bhp ? Im trying to make a decision on whay van i want to replace mine with.

No such thing as A 1.9TDI mate. My last T4 was a 88bhp and i just bought a 102bhp, dont think its running right tho so performance dosent seem much better

well it left the vw factory way back when with a whole 68 blistering bhp .. that was I'm guessing a good 100k ago or 152k with my 1.9td .. still do 95mph on bigger wheels with still a little left in reserve ..

Mines done 102000 miles but its had a lot of engine problems iv had to fix, felt very underpowered dragging my beetle on a trailer at the wk end. People seem to rave on about the 1.9td's whats so special or is mine just shoddy?

if your doing a bit of towing it might be worth investing in a 2.5tdi .. i own a 2.5tdi 102 as well as my 1.9 and the 2.5 is in a totally different league as far as performance goes .. lots more stuff to go wrong but will cruse at an easy 80/85 all day , plus if you need a little more poke you can always project power them upto around 150bhp

The last thing i want is lots of stuff going wrong, my current van has had so many things go wrong i just want a reliable one. Are 2.5s gunna get hit with higher tax come the autamn?

you should be ok if you get a pre 2000 van , but to be honest ive no idea what there going to do . ive also heard if it kept as being registered as a LGV you dont get hit as hard come tax time , i might be wrong .

Is the 1.9TDi 888 really a TDi? or just TD?

Also what BHP is the 888 (year 20001) as standard?

I thought 888's were 2.5TDi 88bhps with leccy windows
