I'm not sure if this should be in the wheels section because I'm asking for advice on COLOUR - NOT THE WHEELS

So, I'm having my steelies done by wide wheels soon ( + 1 inch ), when they come back should i paint them -

original silver
Hi power silver (v. shiny)
Mid grey ish
gloss black
If it helps, this is the bus, and it will have the -85mm kit fitted soon

dig deep for cash, check down the back of the sofa, and buy some alloys! although they look quite smart how they are at the moment.

I don't think black is the answer as I don't believe it will show the wheels to their greatest advantage. So I'm gonna say high powered silver. :ILU:

Now the questions......
Are you going to use any kind of hub cap?
If so what type?
Chrome baby moons sitting inside the rims would look cool Y:
Although lord knows how you'd get them to fit :dunno:
Will you post up some pics when it's done? H:
I have often thought of getting it done since it was posted up a few months ago. :)

used to have alloys, they looked a lot like this until the wife and tesco's high kerbs got hold, so sold them a while back, cant be d with the hassle, I think steels will fair better with the weather/tesco/wife, plus it will sit even lower with the steels

Was thinking of keeping the originals, (the small black centre ones) if any, but painting them black
I've also secured a deal (nudge nudge) for 4 brand new tyres for the steelies for 20 quid each - woo hoo

damn someone beat me to it! Ive looked at getting my steels widened at wide-wheels.co.uk cost 320 just to get my wheels widened, would be cheaper to buy alloys especially after buying four new tyres (not to wide a profile for that stretched euro look). Ill be getting mine done as soon as I get some cheap alloys to run around on. I was going to go for black, but because my vans white, but then also quite fancied army matt green!

Think some sort of caps would look good, dont know how easy to fit.

dont no if this will be classed as traiding or anything but if a fair few pepole are after welded steelies let me no as got a good freind over in holland that makes them for a living proper setup etc so might be able to get them cheaper also i belive wheels are much cheaper over there so they could just purchase steelis for you and widen them ,

i have a set on my car and have abused the living out of them distroyed a set of rear tyres within 30mins and pleny of trips into the gravel sideways at 70+ and there still spot on not buckled like cheap think can go upto 3inch would have to check T:

why not go blue in the middle then go bright silver on the outside and dish just to help show the dish off just an idea.

I agree with Ahay - If you could weld / rivet on some retailing clips, this could be a in awesome look! A:

GLOSS BLACK

Just handed in a set of stock steels over to get sprayed today. Im not widening these ones although I will be getting some done by wide wheels. MUCH better than alloys in IMHO. Remember - Chrome wont get'cha home!

Im putting a set of white lettered cooper 4x4 tyres on, with the gloss black steels its gonna look MEAN :ILU:

BTW have wide wheels had their rims kite marked yet? When I spoke about a month ago their wheel was booked on the test rig but Im not sure if testing had started yet or not... does anyone know?

Rock on!
:)

I reckon some kind of dark silver (anthracite?) would look awesome against a blue van.

Didn't realise you could get wheels banded 'properly' by a company, thought you had to find yourself a dodgy backstreet welder ;)

Got on you doing it, banded wheels rock :D

In my original email to them, I asked CAN YOU DO VAN WHEELS, they replied YES
So I assume they are sorted

Had banded wheels just like that on a bug and on a splitty in the late 70's, proberly banded in someones garage. They are so nice with the domed hubcaps on T:

Questions....

Where from
How much
how the hell would I fix them on
how in gods name would you take them off

mikey

The hubcaps are held on by some small clips that are welded on the wheels, the hubcaps have a small hole in the side you put something in that hole and pull. Go for it they look so nice. T:
