What's a camper like this worth?

1.9TD SWB with De-cat & side exit exhaust, intercooler & running around 100hp, taller 5th gear for relaxed 70-80mph cruising on the motorway. PAS, maybe airbag. Cruise control.

Clean, polished paint, no rust, no dents, no nasty resprays. Inside of panels fully waxoiled before insulation/conversion. Steam cleaned underneath and in engine bay. Smooth body coloured bumpers, body coloured mirrors, Xenon front & LED rear lights. Maybe alloys, but nothing big and nuteral sort of interior finish, very respectable and not 'flashy'.

100-150k miles, with major service/cambelt/coolant/new gearbox oil/new brakes/tyres etc, essentially everything you could possibly service, serviced. New MOT.

Captains seats with good quality interior with leisure battery, r&r bed & usual kitchen/cupboards/led lighting/inverter with 240v/water and waste, all brand new, all fully insulated. Fixed roof, not rising roof. Paging alarm that phones you up if it's getting broken into, central locking (remote).

Full single tank vegoil conversion, running on either diesel or up to 80% oil as you wish, efficiently and properly.

1996 - 2000 year, the 'later' ones.

Reasn I'm asking is I work on them and on the tdi's doing mainly major servicing and vegoil conversions. I'm considering doing one or two of these, but I'm really fussy and usually overspend in money and hours to make the job perfect - the above would be an absolute minimum spec or I don't think I would bother. So depends if it would be worth it (depending what price I can get a solid base van for). There are a lot on ebay but most to a low standard. I was also thinking of potentially 'branding' them as part of my business, for no reason other than if an 'official' conversion by a company, you don't need specialist insurance for a 'home build' and 99% of the insurance companies will be happy to insure it. I run a motorhome and enjoy conversions & repairs and it would be nice to put some effort into something that isn't just being gotten through another mot, but will provide years of enjoyment. But if I would make a loss on the parts, I couldn't even think about it!

Any comments appreciated, I have looked on ebay but can't really get a handle on what a good one would bring. A lot are at silly money and don't get a bid, or 'flash' max power type style, or rough.

Just a though, but I could probably also do a custom high roof with more room in it than the typical fibreglass ones (straight sides) which would allow double berth in the roof & 6'8 standing headroom. Not sure if that would be popular though, as you can't then get in car parks.

Cheers, Greg.

Very vague criteria 1996-2000, 100-150k. Any mix inbetween will have different prices.

Just go by what has sold and what is being sold on ebay. That is the only real way because that is actual fact.

If people tell me what's good, I can do it in that. I was looking at some of the pro commercial kits in the lightweight ply (like vorhbringer). More expensive, but look quality, proper metal frame r&r with all new upholstory/foam. Not some home sewn covers! I think they come in rosewood/light oak coverings for the kitchen with SMEG or smiliar stainless appliances with the glass lids & 3 way fridge.

If it's cheaper I can pick and mix. However, I'm a vehicle engineer not a woodworker so I would either buy a ready to fit custom made /cnc machined interior, or farm anything that I needed custom doing to a woodworking specialist. I won't want anything that won't fit!

I was thinking something that looked like this:

I would have thought that condition and conversion mean more than if it's a 1998 or a 1996. But, for argument's sake, a 1998 with 130k. Condition & conversion as pre previous post.

As for ebay, tried, but can't find anything like it. All non-selling overpriced ones or 'surf' busses very basic or dealers etc. Nothing with a vegoil converison and nothing really well serviced. I'll keep trying!

There is a guide on the forum, no need to even take the box out, but you do need to be clean and know what you are doing in terms of being able to dis/assemble things and have tools like a torque wrench and puller.

This isn't a vehicle, this is a hyperthetical thread. EG, a vehicle in this spec/condition - what's it worth?
