How hard can it be

I want to put a Passat TDI in a T4 window van.
Itís not about horsepower or 0 to 60 time.
My brother has a Passat Although his is 140hp
and he gets 60mpg on the motorway 50 mixed driving.
He pays £120 a year tax on his 03 model with a co2 of 148
Comp to the t4ís co2 of 203

A Passat is (slightly) more aerodynamic than a T4, I think this might have something to do with the figures.

it might account for a slight reduction in figures but it would still be better imo
but for people who have 03 ex AA who are looking at 3-400 quid road tax

does anybody have any idea what it would take to this
Thanks

So you think a Passat will be too big to fit in a t4 so do you have any suggestions
what about a golf tdi !

What age of passat?
if more than3-4 years old isnt it just the 1.9tdi fitted to the T4 anyway
I have a 2.5tdi T4 but also a 180bhp golf gt tdi which is the 1.9tdi that was fitted to golfs(awesome power/torc),t4,caddy,passats,seats,audis,etc.....etc....

the 1.9 in the t4 is 68hp td not tdi isn't it?
so a golf tdi would have more poke and better mpg

I mentioned the passat coz my brother has one and I have first hand exp of driving it .

would that not make any diff to the road tax as that is set by vw providing the figures that they base tax on just as pp doesnt make any diff as it factory figures that tax uses.

I don't think it would make any difference to road tax either.

You don't get it any cheaper if you run pure biodiesel which is pretty much CO2 neutral as its based on whatever it says on your V5, not the actual CO2 you are putting out.

As for MPG I would be shocked if it were much different, a lot to do with aerodynamics, gearing, weight etc.

There is also an enormous difference in frontal area which affects fuel cosumption.

So its doesn't matter what co2 its putting out it only matters what
:(the factory says its putting out that hardly seem right infact that's total BS! :c

I thought a Passat TDI estate being a big car and still doing 50mpg
would be better than a small fast car but this seem not to be the case
if I understand correctly

so would it be better getting a petrol and conv. to lpg (50+pence a ltr)
so for the price of a ltr of diesel you can get 2.5 ltrs of lpg!

its a head scratcher alright

My view is make your own Biodiesel.

About £800 for a (good) processor. £200 for all the other bits and pieces you will need and chemicals etc.

A supply of used oil from a local takeaway.

You can make your own fuel in a few hours and if the oil is free (not that hard to find free oil in my experience) you are making good quality diesel for 10 to 15p a litre.

And its tax free up to 2500 litres a year.

Who cares how much the road tax is when you are saving so much on fuel :D

Mackz,

Talk to Kieth at www.woodysgreenmachines.co.uk

There isn't much he doesn't know about the subject, plus in my opinion, his processor is great. I have seen it working and its very easy to use, well built and safe.
