Todays the big day. Im gona make a start on the windows. With a bit of luck tomorrow morning I'll be fitting the glass.

I've got my hands on a air powered nibler and a few other fancy tools from a place I know that rebuild Classic XK jags. figers crossed it all helps.


Hope the weather holds.:) Looking out side at the mo its very black :eek:

Hi Matt Ya, Coming on. Iíve got the week off work. Mined you they spent all morning trying to get me to go back to work as they have a problem they canít solve them selves. I told them in the nicest way to :c :c

Anyway working on the van this week. windows cut out today glass in, central locking wired up tomorrow. gona fit my Eberspacher this week too along with a load of other little jobs.

Will have to get my mum busy too. Two new windows means two new curtains.Rasp:

where did you get the windows from not sure about cutting the holes my self though was just gona pay sumone to do it for me

I got the windows from VW 2 windows 2 rubber seals was about £120.

As for cutting the holes, well only you can decide if you can do it. Its not that hard really just gota get past that idea :eek: of cutting big holes in ya van.

what is the air powered nibler ive not seen one whats the diff between that a a jig saw. hope i dont sound thick again lol can run air tools at home so if its easier than a jig or better will try and get one to do mine with

I guess the big dif is its way more powerful (as long as you have plenty of air). It shears the steel away in little nibbles and as it shears with a die it leaves a neat edge. the unit only needs about 10mm clearance behind the steel your cutting.

All done. Had to fit the glass in the garage as it was Peeing down, so it took longer than planned as I can only get down one side of the van when its in the garage. Left it for the night now with the straps on, putting a little presure on the glass.

was thinking of you today when it started raining and was hopping you'd got those windows in, was over in crewe at B & Q picking up some bits for the van, you know those little jobs you just mean to do but never get round to, well got them dome today A:

I made a load of wooden pegs to hold the inner and outer panels while they were bonding. made life very esay.

the template for bonded windows is the inside metal ftame got my windows from van sport with fitting kit and fitting guide sheet fitted the windows in one day cut holes 10 am put in windows 4 pm no leaking and looking good "GO TEAM RED"
