It's the older two pin variety with vacuum outlet to ECU.
I doubt whether it could be modified to fit a 1.9 ABL.

so is this everything down to the last nut bolt and bracket?
am i right in thinking then that all the parts are the same for later vans except the intercooler rad itself and the sensor?

Yes , everthing you need except the bolts needed to fix the brackets to the
bulkhead and lock carrier (top of radiator).
The bonded rubber mounts are used to attached intercooler to brackets.
The socket in the intercooler is the two pin type, the plug should be on your loom assuming you intend fitting it to a 88 bhp AJT engine
Oh, you will need a length of vacuum hose to connect intercooler to ECU.
