the ad also says it has a slight water leak using half litre every fortnight. no service history but serviced at regular internals
if it is using water could this be the head gasket going?

I have seen this very one i think, its on piston heads and ebay. If its the same one (preg 800 special, white) Looks very very clean (nice alloys!). Im also looking but ive seen better for he same money. Doesn't say anything to suggest a good service history. Its a gamble i recon.

so do you all think it's a not a good idea for the money? not going to deny i would prefer a 2.5 tdi but i have been told that the petrol t4's go just as well. bl:*dy hell i'm confused, it's a big purchase but needs to be right with the amount of money that i'm going to be spending! (budget of 3000)

Don't rush into it dude. I got a 1.9td r reg on the forum for 850. Needs some work but it's ok. Only has 93,000 on the clock and part service history at vw. Be patient and keep your eyes open. Go onto auto trader and search for a builders van. You will pay less as there not aware what there worth to people like you and I. Allan.

FOR THAT KIND OF MILEAGE, YOU WANT IT FOR HALF THAT PRICE.

Mate, that red jobby looks lush as with those sexy black DTMs. Are they 18"?
I'm hatching a plan to justify new wheels to the missus.

Crikey 270k miles - petrol engine..

Diesel engines stand very high milage as long as they are serviced regulally..

Personally I wouldnt even consider a petrol drinker...
But who am I ???

3000 would easilly buy a really nice 1.9td with change to spare.
3000 would buy a 2.5tdi on an 00 - 01 plate.. with mabe just over 100k miles.

I just sold my 98 1.9td for 1750 with 125k on the clock and bought an 03 2.5tdi for 3500 with 98k on the clock.

I have a fiend who is scraping a 96, 2.0 petrol, wants a few hundred or so quid for it, in need of some manual gearbox work.

Let me know if you are interested.

First and second gears gone, its a bit of a workhorse, been a builders van for the last few years. But I have known every owner, was originally bought by nightclub in Southend TOTS as a maintenance vehicle. Then a friend of mine who still has it now.

270000 little high. Dont think people have got use to the price drop yet. It should do many miles more than this though. Just at alot lesser price. Like people are saying be patient. You will find the perfect buy for you :ILU:
