De Cat Pipe

Hi Folks
At the risk of boring you chaps on the de-cat pipe subject....Help. I have looked through previous threads but remain confused. I have a 1999 2.5 TDI with ACV engine, it is a manual gear change. If I went down the 2.4 engine route does the pipe have a three bolt flange on it, and what year/engine code would it be. The one from Bluebird is cost prohibitive to me at this time, although the same idea in mild steel would do the job I think. Replies gratefully received.

The 2.4 does have a three bolt flange on it Online Automotive is the cheapest place i could find one. The quality is good too!

Thanks Jimmy James, I will look into that tomorrow. Gizago, I am not sure of the date you mention, but I have seen it on the forum somewhere.

Thanks T4 Virgin. Is this a pipe only , or has it got a silencer in that length.

It achieves free flowing exhaust gasses which in turn make more power.

It has a small silencer in place of the 'cat'
It removes a restriction in the exhaust system so that the engine becomes more responsive.
I got mine from my local tyre & exhaust place in Littlehampton @ 24 and it took me about 45 minutes* to fit with hand tools and a trolley jack to aid access.
*this did include two mugs of coffee

Go to hiq Bristol road get them just to cut cat out and weld in a pipe,
cheaper than buying new pipe.
Did that to mine.

I think the Bosal Part Number for the pipe is 233-113 Link Below

Hope that this will help

Both the same

just bear in mind this, they are in a very hostile place with all the water etc coming up off the road , cheap mild steel ones sound good for a short time but a stainless steel one will outlast them for years
