Not sure if there a difference between a 2.4d and any other diesel T4, but found this:

Good luck getting it sorted!!

Not sure about the vac pump tho.

Don't bother mate, mines been f:*d for ages so brakes go hard after a while because it takes longer to create a vacuum. it's a 2.4d too

However, i've passed two MOT's with it like this. the brakes still work, it's just they are not so power assisted.

You should try just buying a push rod for the vacuumn pump as they wear down which results in inefficient pump.
I bought a push rod ages ago but still haven't got round to fitting it, it's next on the list.

Anyway try taking it for a test first and see how you get on T:

I know exactly how you feel.
I bought my ex AA 18 months ago.
Since I've had it I have:
replaced cambelt/water pump
replaced turbo
replaced brake pads & discs
replaced lower wishbone ball joint
had inlet manifold tightened
replaced exhaust system (with stainless powerflow system:D) when the old one dropped off.

(all that lot is on top of standard servicing costs).

It used oil when I started to drive it after I converted it.
I am about to embark (next month) on an attempt to fix this. Worst case - new engine!
Best case - simple fix costing a few hundred.
I will have to wait & see.
