Trying to get everything sorted out for my Velle ready for the first couple of weeks ownership.
I have decided on Autec E black/ polish 17" and will hopefully be ordering shortly (TUV approved fitment). Going for the 17's because they are that bit cheaper and I am a bit tight ....... plus I have to bump up a big kerb to park at home. They look great on the van in 'show us your wheels'.
I now need to sort out the lowering and will be looking for TUV rear spings at -50 or -60 and was leaning towards doing it myself until I got the mods form to fill in from the insurance and they wanna know who did the job. Has anybody had any trouble from insurers filling in the mods form and recording themselves as doing the work ? Is it an easier ride just to bite the bullet and get it done by somebody like CMC or one of the other specialists ?

Windows are being tinted and bumpers coded before I pick it up and these mods didnt impact on the premium but I also had to agree to take out seats to give a total of 5 seats (9 orignally) to get insured. Fortunately this aint an issue for me.

Am also going to get some e marked clear indicators and white rear lights.

Roll on the weekend ...... cant wait.

Insurance requirements seem to vary so much. My insurer weren't interested in my non-standard wheels but I've seen others on here who've had loads of grief. I imagine it's the same with suspension mods. I guess it just depends on who you're with.

Personally, I wouldn't bother telling them...but that's a risk I'm prepared to take. Not for everybody tho'

Just been on with insurance today as they decided the policy i had didn't allow for an agreed valuation. Got quizzed about alloys and suspension but all they requested was the value of items so the cost of replacement was recorded. Think it just pays to be honest.

Got my new 17s on and thought it would be prudent to tell the insurance company - didn't want to give them any opporunity for wriggling out of paying up for any potential claims. Turns out they weren't prepared to insure the wheels. Essentially, if someone now has my wheels away, I'm out of pocket. I've upped the amount the van is worth though (at no extra premium) so if the van was stolen, the extra valuation would cover the cost of the wheels. I'm off to find some really good locking wheels bolts...

A very wise choice indeed I:.
Well pleased with mine. The 17's tuck in nicely under the rear arch aswell.
As mentioned insurers seem to differ. Mine couldn't give 2 hoots what wheels or tyres are on the van. Maybe a different case if a claim was made though.
The Autec's are all van rated etc anyway.
Lowering wise and window wise my insurers didn't have a problem at all and clear indicators didn't even come into it. I'm with HIC by the way.

Looks like a cracking weekend heading your way and don't forget to post a picture of the finished article T:
