.................CAN I BORROW A RIVNUT TOOL.................................

you dont need one, use a nut, bolt and washer of the right thread and suitable length, put the nut on the bolt, then washer, then rivnut, put rivnut and bolt etc in the hole the hold bolt still whilst unscrewing the nut. this will pull the rivnut together.T:

Hi,

Take care there are two types of rivnuts!

the ones that have a flange (wait's patiently for the obvious joke!)and the type you need which have a countersunk head, this type set flush to a surface the other type leave the flange sticking above the surface.

If you can't get the correct type let me know and I will get you some.

I also have the tool to set them but it's in Somerset!

This is the flanged type, it will make the plates for the strut mountings stand off the skin of the van (not the end of the world) they will also cause the same thing to happen to the aligning recievers inside the van, this will throw them too far from where they should be.

I only use the flush type for this reason.

Used on both my vans, no problems so far.

I can use both types, and I know which type looks and fits best, none of the owners of vans I have fitted tailgates to have complained, I too have fitted them to 2 of my own vans

Personal choice:D

Hi as a picture is worth a thousand words here's a couple of Grands worth!

Flanged type:-

Flush type:-

If you slightly countersink the surface, you can end up with a smooth face.
