The training now doesn’t cover sheet lead or copper roofing work. We also did lead burning, copper pipe brazing and steel pipe welding too. I could go on and on but I’m boring myself, so I won’t.

Going off on a tangent. . . . .In the R.A.F. Armourers are 'usually' called plumbers because there job is dealing with lengths of pipe ! Cheers, Tony.

Not many proper leadworkers around now, i served my time on sheet lead/copper roofs, some cracking jobs, Usher Hall Edinburgh, Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfries doing the turrets, hollow roll its an art and very difficult to do well, still remember getting my coupon peppered with lead while learning to lead burn vertically.

When i get the cash together i'm doing a plumbing and gas fitters course, they train in the lead work for roofs etc so it's not completely gone
