Default 2000, 102 SWB Van - Disc Upgrade? Help?

Hi Folks!

Hi to all who have made the journey to the new forum, isn't it all shiny and new!!

Anyway, I have got a 2000 SWB Panel Van with discs all round. The fronts are noticably warped / distorted and therefore need replacing!

I've been thinking about cross-drilled / grooved but am struggling to source any at sensible money!

Any ideas?

Never had a problem with standard VW ones as long as you break them in gently and use cadence braking when braking hard from high speed to prevent overheating. (I am assuming that you already have vented discs?)

Hi G60. just about to PP myself. Rake run a thread on the old forum about a poss brake upgrade so maybe he's your man. I've read a few mutterings about brake fade I think but I've yet to experience it myself. I've never done serious "ok lets outbrake that car into this roundabout" stuff yet!! It maybe on my shopping list at some point but I guess a van that is designed to carry heavy weights and stop safely will have pretty good brakes to start with. Having said that Audi RS discs with Brembo 4 pot cali's would be the way I'd be looking. Ist upgrade for me would be racing brake fluid (higher boiling point) and investigate whether Ferodo or equivalent pads are available for T4's. I've done a fair bit of saloon car racing so I know how brake fade can be alarming!! Be interested to know how you jump on this one!

Hi G60 , I think If i were in the market for that kind of upgrade i'd be looking at second hand coz I reckon new that kind of kit dont come cheap. I reckon you'd pay nearly a grand for new stuff... check out other suggestions from the forum coz I dont reckon you need to go that far to get what your after!! cheers.

Hi Rake,

Without wasting the guys time, do you know if its just disc/pad upgrades
or is he looking to upgrade the calipers and disc size as well.

Cheers Billet
