Default Loose pads

I am in the process of fitting new front discs and pads on my 1995 Caravelle (15" Solid disks).
The problem is when I went to fit the new Ferado pads I found that they fit a bit looser than the old ones. The old ones have some kind of metal end pieces that connect against the brake carrier but the new ones don't.
Does anyone know if this is normal?

Have also noticed that one of the two Brake carrier guide pins on each brake is worn down in a sort of step pattern. I assume that this wear match the gradual wear of the disc together with the more frequent replacement of the pads. Strange that it is only on one of the pins though.

John, all is not well, these are brakes and any work and parts needs to be A1.
Your life depends on it.

That pin is worrying, it must have worn as a reult of chatter?

It needs replacing anyway, and a full investigation as to the reason it has worn like that.

I know what you mean about the pads being slack, take them to your local friendly VW spares place and ask him to get a set out of stock, then make a comparison, if they aint right sling 'em back.
