T4 Post Icon Wobble on steering wheel.

Hi all.

My 2.5 TDI is developing a slight steering wheel wobble over the last few weeks that I can't put my finger on.
It does not tick or click, but every so often it will do it.
I am thinking CV joints are going, but how can I diagnose if there is no clicking?

Cheers.

CV joints ..? I,d say probably not ..Jack each wheel up , try for any horizontal or vertical play ... after checking you havnt lost a balance weight ..

Had a quick look today after the torrential rain had stopped:

I can't see any outer boot damage. Do they just wear out or only when the boot is split?

Does what wear out,the boot?
They look ok,not sure you would get steering wheel wobble/vibration from those.
Have you checked the wheel balance/tracking

Yeah - I think I'll give that a try first.

Edit: not been for wheel balancing/tracking yet.

Edit edit: I meant the CV joint itself. Just wondering if they give up over time without having the boot split.

All things give up in time ... Your wobble is more likely to be in , top/bottom ball joints/track rod end/ balancing ... or even , a shot shocker . C/V does not hold the wheel in correct alignment , as such , it just allows inside wheel to roll faster than outside , on corners ....
