T4 Post Icon T4 Newbie Starter problem T4 2.4 D

Hi , i fitted a new starter as supplied by my local VW agents back in March since then my van has been off the road due to no charge from alternator and dash lights flashing , i informed VW that they had supplied me the wrong starter as the new one had two large and two small terminals ,the old starter having only one small terminal ,they told me this was the correct starter according to the vin number, since March i have changed the steel water pipe and checked wiring and the alternator which was covered in dirt , i have ordered a new alternator but i still think that the starter is not correct as the charging and warning lights were fine before i fitted the new starter, I come back to the UK next week and i am planing to drive on batteries as the prices for parts are 3 times more expensive here in France.
