T4 Post Icon T4 1.9 diesel.

Hi,

Soon going to have cambelt replaced on 1995 1.9 diesel. I was under the impression that the water pump is also driven by the cambelt and both are changed at the same time but VW parts have told I donít need to change the water pump.

Please could someone clarify whether water pump needs changing at the same time

Many thanks in advance.

On the 1.9d the water pump is not driven by the cam belt so yes you don't need to change the water pump, got mine done earlier this year.
