my 2.4 caravelles got one too, but previous owner was told by garage he bought it off that it had been converted to electronic choke
The lever is pulled out, I have never tried pushing it in either.
Van starts perfectly and idles normally even in mega cold weather!

Not too often in 'the van' to be honest, go through there a lot for work though, but if you do see a blue T plate with black side bars and and drl's 'flying' through give us a wave

Hello Everyone. On my old 2.4d, that 265.000 miles on the clock, I did not use the choke much at all. But on my newer camper, a 1.9td with 165.000 miles on the clock, I have to use the choke almost every cold start. If I do not use the choke the engine is very lumpy and there is huge plumes of grey smoke. I could always use it for as a mobile smoke screen for the army.

I got a 19TD 2001 and that thingie thing i got to use in the winter when it is very cold otherwise she is a bitch to start, and yes i have changed the glow plugs also i have to turn the ignition on and wait for the click on the relay, do that 3 times and she starts ok thats only in very cold weather, one of my mates told me to do that and it works NP, i Think she gets a bit grumpy in the winter D
