Default Re: End of the Road? Van Dead?

Garage rang today to ask us to come over..........

When we got there we were greeted with the culprit

A mashed up diff

The Van is being collected tomorrow by an Automatic Transmission Specialist.

We've already met with them to give them a little background on what happened, they have said the transmission could possibly be repaired but the worst case scenario is a new trans

We have accepted now it needs specialist treatment and can only hope past the diff there's not much wrong with it?

We could do without a large bill but the Van was cheap and once its done at least we know we can then treat it well (we don't know how it was treated in its past?)

Ill keep you all posted....

Thanks

Jodie

Well one week on and it should now be with the Transmission Specialist

Not too sure if its gone yet as garage are closed until Monday now and they said Trans Place were picking it up from them either last night or if not Monday

One week ago today if memory serves me right I was sitting outside starting and warming him up for the journey

Same time same place one week later and there's a big Van Shaped Space outside where he was and a big void in my heart as I wait for his return

I miss the big guy

Yes Flo I hope so too,in a week or so ill be posting a far happier thread

In the meantime thank you all so much for your kind comments and keeping me so chipper

Jodie

The Velle is now at the Trans Specialist and was booked in today for stripdown

It has now been confirmed the transmission needs a full rebuild

So we have given the go ahead

Expensive bill but the best way to go

They have said it will take about a week give or take

Ill let you all know what its like to drive when it returns

Here he is awaiting surgery just before they took him into theatre

Hope the operation goes well

Jodie

Well its confirmed the 're-man' box has been dyno- tested and been fitted back into the van, Monday the plan is for it to be test driven and any small adjustments made, Tuesday, it will be delivered back to our local garage, So only a few days and he'll be back on the road.

Well 4 weeks ago Today we came to a halt on a busy carriageway roundabout as the Diff went Bang

And 4 weeks later we still don't have him back

We should of had it back Tuesday 12th but they claimed it had another fault that had nothing to do with the transmission

They said it was either the TPS or the Transmission ECU?

They expected us to pay 2k to get the vehicle back not selecting 4th!!!

The Van was sent there by our garage that we've been using for years and have a good relationship with, understandably they contracted the work out because they do not carry out automatic transmission repairs

The "So Called Transmission Specialists" thought they could just fob us off and hand the vehicle back not properly fixed if the just blamed it on an external fault that is separate to the transmission

But we rejected the vehicle saying we payed to have the transmission fully working in the vehicle (not on a test bench!)

We have made it clear we wont pay until its fit for its purpose withing the vehicle and in fully operational condition

On the 2.4d Automatic the TPS is only present to control the Transmission,as is the Transmission ECU and its associated wiring so if they are faulty its still a transmission fault regardless

They gave us a price for a full repair including a rebuilt transmission but didn't diagnose it correctly and are trying to make us cough up for their up!

Our Garage are on our side and have rejected it as well, the trans specialist claimed it was the TPS so our garage ordered them one at their expense and we were supposed to be picking up the vehicle yesterday only to be told the trans specialists are now claiming the Replacement TPS from VW is faulty????????

As it stands now the vehicle has gone to a VW main agent under a supplied part warranty for their investigation,If its found that VW did indeed supply a faulty part VW themselves will re order the part and fit it themselves under warranty

If not we don't know what happens next?

You couldn't make it up !

Our Garage are in support of us all the way and they have been sending work to the trans place for 30 years so the trans place don't want to wind our garage up

If the Replacement TPS is Faulty then it'll take around another week and a half before its resolved because another part has to be ordered from Germany

We are just so fed up!!!!

Hang in there guys.

I had a recent horror story about my bus, fobbed off left right and centre, spent the earth getting it back.

But eventually after about 14 months its back rockin and rollin! I couldnt make the story up.

Was it worth the money and time. 100%.

Dont give up on your dreams, and stick by your guns dont let them fob you off.

So many crooks nowadays. Its sad.

Hope it all works out for you..
