PendlePerformance - Insurance & Public Liability
PendlePerformance PendlePerformance is offline 05-03-11, 10:24

With all the mobile tuners popping up with the "Flash & Go" manner of tuning customers vehicles I would like to point out that Insurance to drive the vehicle and also Liability Insurance is needed.

I think all motor traders on here should provide motor traders insurance details so customers who spend on there pride and joy know that there are in save hands.

Its not good these carpark tuners saying we have our own policy on my private car so we are insured 3rd party on your insurance as this is totally wrong and any insurance wouldn't pay out so the customer who has spent on his motor is left trying to find Mr CarPark tuner and realises that they are not even a registered company and have no insurance what so ever.

My Policy Covers me for the following:

Fully Comprehensive to drive any vehicle upto 50k worth, (if we need more than 50k we simple phone up and give vehicle reg details and we have a extra charge for putting that vehicle on our policy for the day, or until we have finished with the vehicle)

Modified Vehicle Cover this covers us for tuning and modifying vehicles as a basic policy will not cover if you write a vehicle off while tuning as the policy will void the insurance as the vehicle is modified

Liability Insurance we have a 5,000,000 liability insurance

Policy is with www.blackfriarsgroup.com and the underwriter is QBE

Our Policy Number is MT/0959088H

Its your vehicle you have worked hard to buy, why settle for these non registered, non insured cowboy tuners who think simple flashing a file they get via email is tuning loose on your vehicle??

Remapping a Vehicle isn't just a case of flashing a file in that they have received in email with cheap cloned or inferior tools such as mpps, kwp, galletto etc etc, its total customer satisfaction no matter what might happen.

I think the admins of this forum should only let registered business trade so it keep genuine VW owners in safe hands.

Regards
Martin

Its simple isn't it?? that majority of the mobile file flashing companies that are popping up every day claiming to be the next best thing will have no cover what so ever if they crash your vehicle...

I think this forum could be aimed more for end customers if anyone advertising and paying to advertise on here was a genuine company that's registered and also fully covered.

The said company that did yours (I have no idea who did it) will have had to road test the vehicle before and after (if they know anything about tuning that is) and if they had no insurance both yourself and the company that did it could be legal done as you gave permission for the said company to drive it. Also worse case if crashed who you going to put a claim in for a new vehicle or you happy to walk away with a total loss??

I just think its important for customers who have spend there life savings on these vehicles to know that they are in save hands dont you?

Martin

Interesting one......

What's always interesting is having a look back through the previous posts of some of the 'specialists' that post on forums (not just here)....

Some must be REALLY quick learners, as it's often only a matter of a few short weeks from asking the most basic 'newbie' questions to announcing themselves as 'specialist xxxx' (insert trade here)

It's always an enlightening thing to go and look at previous posts......

I fully agree, I myself have been in the motortrade since the very young age of 16 when I started an apprenticeship for Peugeot and then ended up being part of the rally team building and developing the rally cars for the main dealerships owners son.

I have also worked at BMW maindealership as well as a HGV Tech.

Being very close to the old age of 40 now I can look back on things I have learnt, but still pride myself on learning all the time, Diesel Engine Control units I happy to say I 150% fully understand and help out other tuning companies where needed, petrol control units on N/A BMW's and some other brands are not my thing and often said companies that I help with advice on diesel tuning help me out so its give and take. There are many tuning forums all tuners are active on that ask and give advice on

What I do I do good and today I spent 4hours tuning a VW T5 to perfection, 6tuned files and it was perfect...

I have seen many files from so called "Pro Tuners" and to be honest its a total joke what some think are tuned files...

This year I plan on doing lots or research and development on Delphi Engine Control Units as not many tune these well and they are a strange control unit to understand.

Martin

I totaly agree mate all though i am coming from a different angle i suppose..

i also have full motor trade insurance..insured fully comp etc to drive and use customers cars whilst in my possesion for work carriered out...

i will agree with you about the so called specialists, many have seemed to of popped up on here lately since the forum opened its doors to everyone..as so-kal has said, just a few weeks prior asking silly newbie questions, the amount of pm's i have answered on here, then someone will spout on the forum all about it!!!!!!

....i myself was once a HGV mech years ago, then became a hgv driver through different things that happened in my life (not what i wanted to do)...

when i was made redundant 4 years ago,i went back to the mech side of things, working for myself

i am a mobile mech, but do not know everything,i am lost on some of the newer engines and now only work in certain areas i.e services, lowering etc..and only answer and do jobs that i know i am 100% capable of doing,i have no shame in admiting the above if someone phones me for something i am not happy doing i pass the job to a friend who is a fully trained motor technician with many years experience in the motor trade...

It has really been bugging me lately this forum i have to say (even though i still love it from a vw nut side of things) the amount of people spouting off about stuff, that personaly i feel they know nowt about, converting 1 van does make you a vw specialist...

know your limits people and stop bigging yourself up and talking sh$te...

Anything I can help you with just throw us a email over of catch me on msn [email protected] I'm more than happy to help genuine people out where I can.

It is a thought maybe the admins only let genuine companies advertise and support this forum.
