Default New 1.9 Owner (Possibly)

Morning all.
Going to see a 1995 1.9td transporter tomorrow.
The van itself I am happy to check over, but is there anything specific to the engine I shoule be aware of. It has done about 100k
Thanks for the help. If it all goes well I shall be making a nuisance of myself on here, when I pay the annual fee.
Cheers
Dic

make sure you ask about history and when the cambelt was changed last.

Welcome to T4Forum

I recon a T4Forum trip out to check over said van would be a good plan ........... particulary in the current climate

as C4 has said check cambelt has been changed if not or theyre not willing to produce receipt/proof and you buy it get it done straight away for piece of mind

you shouldnt have any rust issues out there to worry about i dont think

good luck with your purchase

HI guys. A I thought just the cambelt thing. or am I missing something else.
This however is Portugal so there will be no history and probably some bodywork damage.
If you thought the Italians were bad, then come here. Pre requisite for passing the test is to be able to remove your brain and place it on the passenger seat whilst driving.
I will keep up to date but any more thoughts would be good.
Wish me luck, my portuguese is a bit rusty

Well. I bought it. Going to collect it next week
As thought, no history, but drives really well and everything is there.
Guy says the belt was changed, but going to do it again. Presume its not that hard, usually do all my own but they are on petrol engines. I know bugger all about oil burners, except their basic principals, but can't be that hard.
It needs new discs and pads, a rear wiper fitted(I know it never had one but it sure as hell needs one)I also need a new steering wheel. The rubber has seperated from the pastic, cos of the sun so its a bit mank.
Will look for tuning the 1.9 engine next as its sooooooooo slow, but I am used to driving Corrados so its going to be a learning process.
Wish me luck...........
