** brand new vsr split charge + power distribution system**

I wanted to save some time/confusion/aprehension for people fitting split charge kits. This neat little box of tricks makes things much easier and saves loads of time fitting the split charge kit and fitting applicances. Its simple to install with just 2 wires to the main battery which goes into a consumer unit and from there its easy to distribute the power to up to 10 applicances. Its got a few other neat features have a look hereČ`

Fitted one today in my T5, very easy, the hardest part being the routing of the cable to the battery under the bonnet.

All I need to do now is wire the lights and sockets

Will, just a quickie. The instructions on the TidyT's site aren't clear, you will see what I mean here: -

You can easily connect up to 10 applicances using the multiblock connection. +12 v connections go in the connector on the right using standard insulated spade connectors (supplied)

All - negative connectors are connected to the terminal on the right using the supplied connectors

Also, and please excuse me for being stupid here, but did I understand you correctly that the fridge is only powered when the engine is running? ie. the fridge connected via fuse 10 is not powered from the leisure battery when the engine's off?

Surely modern day fridges can be powered from the leisure battery with the engine off, but I guess we simply use one of the other fused outputs to get around this.
Will, can you confirm these statements? I have had mine fitted for some time and fridge not running right

do fuse outputs 1 and 10 stay live when isolating?
Does output 10 not give enough power for the fridge unless engine running?

thanks

Simon

Hi Simon

I didn't get an answer to my questions, but after installation I can confirm:

1. The battery does continue to be charged with the isolator switch off
2. Connection 10 does only power the fridge with the engine running. I've connected my compressor fridge to a different terminal.

I hope this helps
Nick

Big thanks to Will and co for fitting this smart bit of kit. Battery and gismo just about fitted under drivers seat and kept beers nice and cool all the way to Saunton...Would recommend to all.

I know the price seems high compared to ebay but remember....this works

Nothing more to mod now so wont see you for a while but be lucky................except leather up front

Hi Buggygirl 09

I'm no expert so I got a load of electrical wire, spade connectors, straight connectors and 12volt sockets-local electrical suppliers would assist.

My battery is under the drivers seat so made a carpeted wooden panel to fit behind on the base with 3 12volt sockets and a couple in the rear panels.

Then ran all wires back to the gismo and used the connectors privided to connect to the + and - terminals.

I'm not sure how many 'appliances' you are thinking of- some might connect direct but I can plug coolbox, dvd player and still have spare.

hope this helps and good luck/have a good hol

Rob
