Can anyone help me please? I have a 08 1.9 that when I start on a cold morning sounds like a bag of spanners! Sounds like it starts on 3 cylinders, but after about 20-30 seconds its back to normal and sounds nice???
Doesn't happen all the time but more in the cold or if left a few days. I was thinking glow plugs??

hi mines a 56 1.9 t28 and had the same trouble so i turned the ignition on and off a couple of times for glow plugs to work then waited a few seconds on last and she fires up normal.hope this helps.T:

Sounds like glowplugs,easy enough to change,just like spark plugs,access is
tricky unless you pull front bumper/bonnet 'lock carrier'.

You may find that it's just the valve lifters. Til the oil gets up to pressure they clatter like crazy in the cold. Mine sounds like a tractor for the first 20 seconds or so when the temp is below zero... It's not a problem, just a feature I:
