hi guys got a timing issue. timed the ahu up using pump lock cam lock and flywheel mark.starts fine sounds ok . plugged in vag com and getting code '00550 start of injection regulation'.on the tdi timing graph it says 'too advanced to plot' .i have moved the pump through the adjustment and the best i can get is 215 .is it common to move the pump a tooth or two to set up on the graph ???
or could be an electrical problem with the loom ???

Depend how someone adjusted it last time but yeah move it round a tooth.
And no it won't be a wiring issue.

on an AHU sometimes when it says too advanced to plot it actually means it's retarded - I have had this a couple of times - before you go redoing it all I'd see what happens on the timing graph if you slowly try to advance the pump (push it towards the head). I may be completely wrong in this case, but it has certainly happened to me.

Could it be that it is the wrong diesel pump for engine. Are they coded to engine or can you use any tdi pump

there are some combinations that don't work, but you'd have to be quite unlucky - what's your ECU number and Bosch pump number?

I will have a look tonight for numbers. I have a spare afn pump. May see if that works
