Can any fellow 1.9 tdi converts help. I need the part no for the barometric sensor.
My loom ecu are from a pre 95 golf witch has this in footwell by fuses.
Also can it be linked out so ecu thinks it is there if i cant source one

Not sure how exactly the baro sensor works - i.e. what the ECU expects to see (but I could look into it). I do know however that the ECU will impose a level-1 torque limit if it is not present- not the end of the world but certainly noticeable.

Not sure - as I said I'd have to look into it.
What does VAGCOM say at present?

If you don't have a faultreader/VAGCOM/VCDS, then there is no way of knowing what is wrong and you are only wasting your time by simply 'poking-and-hoping'

00528 barometric pressure ( altitude ) sensor (f96)
31-00 - open or short to ground

00550 - start of injection regulation
17-00 - control difference

00741 - brake pedal monitoring
27-00 - implausible signal

brake pedal no prob - needs setting up with brake light signal

barometric sensor ordered coming fri (on back order from tps )


start of injector regulation :*:*

advanced measuring values

barometric pressure reading 1024.8 mbar with no sensor
inj qty (actual) 4.2 mg/str
inj qty requested (acc pedal ) 1.2 mg/str


so from this am i to read that because there is no altitude sensor it is over fueling wich is causing the engine to knock when exelerating

also start of injectors :* whats that all about

Absence of baro will only cause level 1 torque limit...and so is the least of your problems. Brake monitoring and timing are both important for smooth running.

Sorry for the Hijack guys but my work van has this same error code (00741 - brake pedal monitoring)
I've changed both the black & blue switches but still comes back.

Possibly because you haven't connected the brake input signal

the brake input sw (blue) has to be set up to work at the same time as the brake lights switch

i am thinking if you pull both plugs off and continuity check (buzz) wehen they both work together job done

Brake input is not the same thing as the switch - have a read of the threads again,,,

Nope, you are over-complicating things - again, read the conversion threads...

i have sorted the timing and got it spot on on vagcom graph.
i still not received baro sensor so this is only fault showing

engine ticks over sweet but when accelerating hard i get a lot of white/grey smoke on boost
could it be the lack of baro sensor causing this

also does anyone know the length of the accuator arm . could this be another cause

the turbo is boosting to just under 1 bar . is this the normal boost pressure

failing it being any of the above then i asume it is oil leaking from turbo seals
