I have just realised my newly road going 94 t4 has the worst feeling steering wheel ever as the outer turns on the inner

I have just placed a classified ad but then wondered

is my steering wheel repairable in any way ?

can I fit any other VW wheel straight on, (readily available and cheap preferable)
