Hi Guys

Just trying to get some info, here goes ....

would a 1y engine from a non turbo golf be ok to install in place of a abl ?.
I know the sump / pick up pipe and engine mounting will need to be done, but will the engine be able to cope with the turbo and the extra strain placed upon it.
The engine is listed as 64 bhp so what will the turbo add in bhp.
Need to pass this info on

many thanks

I thought some 1y motors had D/TD cast into the block, I was also told the 1y is the VAG group engine that will take a turbo

the oil squireters are not a problem

and your right the abl block says d/td or other way around been done to death in t25 etc

you dont need the oil squireters though realisticly

plenty still going strong after good 2yrs plus on standard 1y

fuel pump will need changing though as they are different from top of my head

The original pump from the 1y lump is attached and all set up, so would that need to be removed and replaced with the abl unit ??, I thought it would have been better to leave the original pump on the engine.

i would check part numbers but sure they are different

and not big problem just set each to tdc mark it up and refit will need some fine tuning by hand no big deal

and most of bloody time when i have stripped engines the oil squireters have been blocked up with rubbish old oil
