You mean the vehicle speed sensor, that drives the speedo? It'll be on the gearbox somewhere, probably on the top of the diff housing on the drivers side.

plugged it in and it just said speed sensor values to low or something along those lines. i guess it could be the vss in the gearbox

As you look under the bonnet slightly to the right of centre on top of gear box covered in silver shroud. It is common for the square drive socket to wear and allows the VSS to slip.

thanks mate ill have a look at but im guessing thats not causing the starting issue the van has. looks like ill have to keep looking as to why the van has no spark

If it was the engine speed sensor (crank or cam sensor, no idea which it has) that would cause lack of sparking.

yes i would agree but i dont see a camshaft sensor on there but the crankshaft sensor wires have been cut before so that could be the issue.
