Hi guys.

just had a call from the bodyshop to say that my 'velle has twice continued running with the keys out of the ignition.
they did say that it would turn off after a few minutes though and that the glow plug light is flashing when engine is on

today it hasn't done it

i've done a search but couldn't really turn much up

van is a 2.5 tdi on a w plate.

any ideas? i'm thinking stop solenoid or ignition barrel problem.

i had the same.....it is an electrical problem going to the pump/solenoid area me thinks. I had the same problem, fixed by my local 'down the lane' garage.

It doesn't smoke and oil level is correct.

I have a parasitic battery drain issue at moment. I just disconnect
Battery over night. Could this create any of the symptoms above?

Check there is no voltage at the solenoid when you turn off the ignition, if no volts and still running stuck solenoid due to metal debris the most likely cause.
Take the solenoid out and check for metal particles. (don't drop the plunger !)
