so I understand how to make the change with spanners and pullers and stuff.
What I can't get my head around is what gear sets I can fit that will drop the engine revs at a given road speed as compared to the DUJ gearbox code 28:40 0.700 fifth that we currently have in a PP'd TDi (originally 88bhp model)

I understand the DDA, DQQ - 32:47 0.681 fifth exists but what rpm per 1000 will that give me as compared to the current DUJ?

Or can I fit the T5 fifth gear sets 27:41 = 0.658 (02Z 311 361 A : 02Z 311 158 A)
or 23:37 = 0.622 (02Z 311 361 : 02Z 311 158)?

Bottom line I'm after lower engine revs at speed to increase economy on long runs (Les Arc etc)

I am trying to get my head around all this at the moment. I really could do with a taller gear but not sure which one to use, guess i will just keep reading and lerning!
