I've exhausted site search and google....

I'm currently in the process of reupholstering captains chairs. Have removed armrests and covered (2 so far) but since reassembly one of the armrest has lost it's friction on the spindle. Height adjustment works as normal.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get to the height adjustment mechanism within the armrest? Something in there's come loose as it rattles when shaken!

One the plus side, the upholstery looks great!

As I said, this is a different kind of floppy armrest problem.

It's not the actual mounting bracket that is the problem. It is the loss of friction on the spindle, not lack of locating lug on the bracket. I need to access the mechanism for the height adjuster. That's where the spindle goes through the armrest and where it normally has some kind of friction resistance. I don't want to go cutting foam away in a futile attempt to access it if it's not possible anyway.

Anyone else got any ideas?
