Complete newbie, so please be patient with me!

I'll be buying a T5 panel van in the coming weeks with a view to converting into a 6 seater. Are the fixing holes already in the floor of a panel van, or will some fabrication work be needed?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum mateT:

The holes are visible but will need drilling out.

You will need to remove the heat shield and drop the fuel tank slightly.
Re enforcing brackets clip around the chassis.
Seat belts will need to be sorted too.

Basically no fab work needed but if i was you I'd get a reputable firm to do it so you can get the right paperwork to show the changes have been properly carried out to the DVLA and your insurance company when you tell themT:

I'm just about to sell a triple Kombi seat with the floor fixings and the seat belts. I'll be posting photos and details in the next week or so when it goes on ebay but will let you know. The seating surface is excellent - not sure anyone has ever sat on them but the vinyl at the back has had a hard life.

Thanks for that Jay.

The more I read, I think I will get a specialist to do it.

Can anyone reommend a firm to carry out the work in the North East or North Yorkshire?

Thanks

Hi Jimbob1975,

Can only offer limited advice but check with your insurance company before completing the work, it might invalidate your policy having six seats.

In our recent experience not too many commercial policies will alter once in force, however if you already have modified van insurance a quick call should confirm the state of play.
