pottering along the M4 near Swindon today, i heard a small bang like a stone hitting the underside of the van but then i had a massive knocking from the rear end. as i was heading back to Lyneham anyway, i carried on slowly and came of onto the Wooton Basset road. a quick stop and an inspection underneath has revealed that the head of the bolt that holds the bottom of the driver's side rear damper in had sheared off, leaving the damper located into the suspension arm by just the remaining portion of bolt shank!
i managed to nurse the van back to Lyneham, crapping myself at every pot hole! got a new bolt on order and lets hope the remainder of the old one comes out easily.
anyone else ever had this happen?
