Does anyone know or have a baby seat with an iso fix base that fits to their RIB rear seat. I have had it installed with the ISOFIX fittings and now can't find an ISOFIX seat and/or base where the front leg touches the floor.

Please help, theirs a little baby here desperate to come out in our newly converted T5.

Cheers

I have the exact same problem using the maxicosi family fix base.

The baby is not due til april so i was planning on fitting a step/footrest with some speakers built in, planning to over engineer the step so it will be more than capable of supporting the base and also fixing it to the floor and rib legs.

Not really any help to you but wanted to share my plans.

My wife and I are working with Johnson prams (distributors of Jane and nurse products) to solve this very issue. Our baby is due in april. We are using a Smartbed Evo with ISOFIX points incorporated into the design of the bed (at the production stage) and the Jane Matrix Light 2 system. Jane are adapting a bMatrix Platform (ISOFIX base) for us as we speak to incorporate a longer extendable leg. This is being done in house so it will still have all the relevent safety standards and guarantees.

If you havent seen the Matrix light 2 car seat yet then you are in for a treat as it is the perfect car seat for any VW Camper owners. This is because it can be used in the standard travelling position or a lie flat position. You probably already know a baby can only stay in a standard car seat for 3 hours as it restricts their breathing. It can also be used as a moses basket for baby to sleep in with an optional mattress (which is only £15) meaning you dont have to carry a seperate bulky item around for your baby to sleep in.

Here are a few useful links to video demos and the product itself.

We will be using our Matrix light 2 System with a Trider pushchair but it will work with most Jane pushchairs.

I will be really really interested to hear what you guys think of these products. The wife and I will be testing them through the summer during a 6 week trip through Europe with our new born baby and reporting on them.

PM me for any more details or if you live in the south west and want to pop over to have a look at ours.

They look great, thanks for the info.

We already have a maxi cosi Pebble which fits in the Camper using seat belts. This is only for the first 12 mths so I'm now looking to the next seat. Will your modified Matrix base fit the next seat (up to 3.5 years) or will you get them to modify the next base?

I could not find the prices anywhere on the website, how much and how would I get them to modify an ISOFIX base for us?

Once agin thanks for the info, massive help..

Hi - just reviving this thread as we're in the same boat - i.e. have a RIB bed with isofix points but struggling to find a seat with a support pole that is long enough to reach the floor from the lofty seat height.

Did the Jane seat modification ever happen??

I can see the post is pretty old now but wondering if you got this issue sorted? We have just had our van converted at 8Ball campers in Hull including an Altair 3P rib seat to regulation 14R07 (French crash test regs) with ISOFIX & are struggling to find out which seat we can buy for our 18 mth old, we are also having the a problem with the legs being too short! Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

We don't have ISO fix in our Rib seats and the only rear facing seat we could find that didn't require anchors and legs was the Joie Stages. It's a little bit of a faff getting baby in and out who is now 18 months old but the seat is nice and secure. Before this seat it was the Maxi Cosi Pebble.

I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd share our car seat find in case other people stumble across it, like we did. We have a sliding 3/4 RIB Altair with isofix and had originally been using a Maxi Cosi Milofix but I desperately don't want Master Speedypepper forward facing when he reaches 18 months, so after much contact with baby car seat manufacturers and visits to various car seat stockists we've finally found a solution!!!

It's the new Besafe Izi Kid x2 isofix!! It's rear facing only (to 4 years old) and the leg touches the floor. Hoorah!! It's won the highest safety score in the NDAC tests and has passed the Swedish plus test. It's a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion.

The only downside is that the side impact protection clip on doesn't fit next to the C pillar, however we figure that because the head section of the seat is next to the C pillar that that offers greater protection than the foam clip on.

Hope this helps someone else.
