Hi,
My van is a 52 plate T4 5 cylinder 102 BHP.
It does not have ABS.
Amber warning light is showing for brakes & alarm each time I start engine.
Been to Quick Fit & issue is the rear sensor not the pads or discs. Diagnosis is one gone one about to go.
Quick Fit want £90 per sensor to replace.
Seems like a lot to me but I know very little!
Is this reasonable?
Can I purchase sensor & replace easily?
I do have a friend who is reasonably capable.

Apologies if too numpty a question.
Responses appreciated.

Karl.

Go back to quick , find the person who wants to charge u £90 and back hand him across his face.
The t4 has two sensors. One in front passenger side and one in the rear drivers side. The connections fail. Mine have. U can try and repair it but most just cut off the plastic connector and crimp the two wires together. Sorts it's for good then. Basically they would of charged u £90for crimping to cables together. Cheeky bar-stewards.

Thx John.
Very useful info.
I'll contact VW & see how much replacement sensors are.

The sensors are in the brake pads themselves.

The fault you are describing is probably in the van wiring to the sensor ( or the pads really are worn!!).

What John is describing is unplugging the sensor lead from the pads and shorting the connection out. If the fault is still there then potentially the wiring fault is further within the wiring loom.

Alternatively you can code out the warning function using vagcom.

There are posts on this forum on how to do this.

Good luck!
