Hi Guys,

I got a MOT tomorrow and just want to quickly disable the light and fix it properly later down the road.

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S

Control Module Part Number: 1J0 909 603 BL
Component and/or Version: AIRBAG VW3 - V04
Software Coding: 16972
Work Shop Code: WSC 02757
3 Faults Found:
65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error
00-00 - -
00588 - Airbag Igniter: Driver Side (N95)
32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent
00532 - Supply Voltage B+
07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent

I have tried to clean the contacts and stuff but just cannot get it clear.

I could try resistor trick, but I guess this will only work if the module is working right?

Any tips? Is it possible to program airbag out of the clocks or anything?

If there is an airbag staring them in the face, they will be looking for the air bag light.

Not seeing that, they may asssume it's innoperative; in which case that's a 'major' fail.

It's super unlucky for it to fail the day before your MOT

You need a REGISTERED VCDS to clear air-bag lights.....it's a safety feature, so the "freeware" version won't allow you to do it.

Looks like a bad contact you have, but even the resistor trick won't clear the fault as it's a "stored" one that needs a full reset.

Thanks guys. I have the MOT later today! Cutting it fine.

I have a registered version of vcds, but when I clear the codes it just comes straight back :*.

I tried to clean the contacts on the module, should I try taking the airbag out of the wheel and investigate there?

Not really too sure where to go from here!

Just fit a 2.2 Ohm resistor on the connetor on the steering column.
It will all "indicate" correctly then, and you get time to find the real fault.

"00532 - Supply Voltage B+

That looks a little ominous.

Difficult to get at, I know, but try measuring the B+ at the controller......maybe run another wire to it?

Not sure which fuse it is, but try removing/cleaning/replacing it?
